Welcoming Jonathan Lyons to the Alliance Board of Directors

Jonathan Lyons

Jonathan Lyons is the founder of Among & Between, an independent advisory firm that helps climate and clean energy companies scale. Based in Denver, he has spent 20 years building startups, leading commercialization efforts, and creating coalitions across the public, private, and nonprofit sectors. He holds an MBA from Wharton and professional credentials in business valuation. Jonathan is active in both national and local climate policy advocacy.

What interests you about The Alliance?

The Alliance Center is one of the few places in Denver where climate and clean energy work happens in community. That matters more now than it did five years ago — the policy environment has shifted, institutional support has thinned, and the people doing this work need a real home base to make lasting connections.

What draws me is the connective tissue. Place-based organizing creates relationships that survive funding cycles and political headwinds. Those are the networks I want to support — working alongside peers solving different pieces of the same problem, in a building that takes the mission seriously.

Why did you decide to join the team?

Working with Alison and the board on a partnership project gave me a firsthand look at what the Alliance actually does — and how different it is from other organizations in the ecosystem. The building is one piece of it. More important is the civic infrastructure: creating conditions for relationships that don't happen anywhere else in Denver's climate community.

That combination of physical infrastructure and active network-building is rare. When the opportunity came to contribute directly, I didn't hesitate.
