Green New Deal Watch Party
Green New Deal Watch Party
February 5, 2019 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
The Alliance Center, 1536 Wynkoop St, Denver, CO 80202, USA
Reguster here! https://www.classy.org/event/green-new-deal-watch-party/e221340
Join us here at The Alliance Center for a watch party! We'll provide some light snacks and come together to watch the Sunrise livestream detailing the 2019 Green New Deal Strategy. Doors will open at 7, and the livestream will begin at 7:30 p.m.
In 2018, we put the Green New Deal at the center of the national political agenda. For the first time in our lives, there is a proposal before Congress in line with what the world's top climate scientists say we need. Because thousands united in DC and at hundreds of Congressional offices around the country, we opened a historic window of opportunity and we can’t let it pass us by.
We need to keep building the support for the Green New Deal in every corner of the country, and to cement the Green New Deal at the top of the political agenda, so that in 2020 we can elect a president and congress that make the Green New Deal law in 2021. We will make it clear to all politicians that if they want the votes of young people, they need to back the Green New Deal.
Here's how you can make that happen. On February 5, hubs and homes across the country will host livestream watch parties to tune into a Sunrise livestream detailing the 2019 Green New Deal Strategy. These parties will unite communities to strengthen the people power we need to make the Green New Deal happen. Together, we will win.

The Alliance Center Artist In Residence Launch Party
The Alliance Center Artist In Residence Launch Party
February 7, 2019 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm
The Alliance Center, 1536 Wynkoop St, Denver, CO 80202, USA
Register here: https://www.classy.org/event/artist-in-residence-launch-party/e220330
The Alliance Center is excited to announce the launch of the Artist In Residence program! The Artist In Residence program seeks to engage the local art community in bringing art to our walls that will rotate on a quarterly basis. Our Launch Party is on Thursday, February 7, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. We'll provide snacks, one drink ticket for all guests, plus a cash bar and the opportunity to check out the art and meet our first Artist in Residence!
Our first artist is Pixie Nudell. Pixie Nudell is an American artist based in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. She is known for creating paintings that are filled with color and lift the spirit. Her unique style, which is influenced by her travels all over the world, inspires a feeling of adventure, curiosity, and wonder. Her work prominently features themes of nature, city landscapes, and portraits.Pixie paints en plein air (outdoor painting) in a variety of locations, particularly, Colorado, Utah, New Mexico, and Spain.
Pixie’s paintings are held in numerous private collections and have been widely exhibited in both solo and group exhibitions in the USA and abroad at commercial galleries, artist-run spaces, and nonprofit institutions.
Artist Statement: “I feel and explore the interconnection between the world, the universe and me through the meditative painting of landscapes and people. In such a way that when I paint a landscape or a person, its spirit comes through in the painting itself. So as to invoke a feeling of connectedness in viewers and provoke a desire to protect that to which we are connected, our land.
Each landscape I paint captures a moment in time. I choose the color scheme by observing how the sun affects the shapes and colors of the landscape in a particular moment. My paintings are healing because they include a variety of colors by capturing the whole spectrum of the sunlight and bring viewers to be present.”
This event is part of an ongoing Artist In Residence program at The Alliance Center. If you are interested in becoming the next artist in residence please email info@thealliancecenter.org.

The Great Nonprofit Evaluation Reboot: A new approach every staff member can understand, by Dr. Elena Harman book launch
The Great Nonprofit Evaluation Reboot: A new approach every staff member can understand, by Dr. Elena Harman book launch
February 12, 2019 6:00 pm - 9:30 pm
You're invited to a celebration for a new book aimed at helping nonprofits make sense of evaluation: The Great Nonprofit Evaluation Reboot: A new approach every staff member can understand, by Dr. Elena Harman, founder and CEO of Colorado's Vantage Evaluation, and published by CharityChannel Press.
“Reading this book has affirmed my belief in, and ignited my passion for, evaluation as a tool for increasing impact.
I’ve been working in the nonprofit field for nearly twenty years. In that time, I’ve worn many hats, including executive director, communications manager, development person, and board member. Elena’s advice on how evaluation can contribute to the effectiveness of each one of these roles, as well as the unique vantage point that each plays in effective evaluation, is both insightful and practical.”
- Amy Latham, Vice President of Philanthropy, Colorado Health Foundation
Along with an opportunity to be among the first to purchase Elena’s book, we’ll be giving away some fun prizes and enjoying light appetizers, music, and mingling with Colorado’s incredible nonprofit and foundation community. Attendees will also receive a 25% discount on the purchase of the book at the party.
